The carbon emission reduction project for the comprehensive utilization ultra-low concentration gas in Gucheng coal mine of Lu’an Chemical Group Co., Ltd has run smoothly

The carbon emission reduction project for the comprehensive utilization of ultra-low concentration gas in Gucheng coal mine of Luan Chemical Group Co,. Ltd., was successfully connected to the grid recently. The gas oxidation RTO unit was contracted by Yurcent Environment. The methane destruction rate 99.5%, the hot air extraction rate 28%, NOX10mg/m3. The system unit operates stably and all indicators meet the design expectations.

Project background


The carbon emission reduction project for the comprehensive utilization of ultra-low gas in Gucheng coal mine is cooperation between Luan Chemical Group and Shanghai Shenergy Group. This project makes full use of coal mine ultra-low concentration gas, turns waste into treasure and realizes cogeneration. The annual power generation can reach 200 million KWH, and the annual destruction of methane is 100 million m³. The annual reduction of carbon dioxide is about 1.65 million tons, and the economic and social benefit are win-win. The innovative exploration and practise of the carbon emission reduction project for the comprehensive utilization of coal mine ultra-low concentration gas is a positive response to the call of the General Secretary Jinping Xi to Achieve carbon peak in 2030 and carbon neutrality in 2060.

System solution


The project adopts gas blending system+ 10*100,000Nm3/h Rotary RTO+ 100t/h high temperature and high pressure waste heat boiler+ 1*25MW extraction condensing steam turbine generator unit.

Project advancement


Ventilation air methane and drainage gas oxidation power generation project does not produce secondary nitrogen oxides. This technology completely solves the environment protection problem of nitrogen oxides that beyond the standard caused by methane combustion. This project can realize cogeneration, provide sufficient and stable heat source, replace coal and gas power, and completely solve the heat demand of coal mine.

The greenhouse effect of methane is 25 times that of carbon oxides. By destroying methane and generating electricity ,a huge amount of carbon reduction.can be achieved.




The advantage of rotary RTO

1)The rotary RTO has a multi-chamber structure, which can reduce the area of the single chamber, improve the structural stability, uniform the flow field of regenerative bed, and stable air flow.

2)The rotary gas distribution valve has ingenious structure, low failure rate and simple maintenance.

3)High temperature valve adopts high temperature resistant cement valve with its own intellectual property right, with leakage rate less than 1% and no jamming risk.

The process system of this project is completely opened, and the RTO oxidation unit operates stably. The destruction rate of methane99.5%, the hot air extraction rate28%, NOx10mg/m³. All indicators of cogeneration are good, and about 1.65 million tons of carbon dioxide reduced annually.
